Ambulance Mission Rewards
Complete 35 ambulance missions to get a heart at your hideout.

Complete 70 ambulance missions to get an adrenaline pill at your hideout.

Get onto Level 12 in an ambulance mission and you will get the infinite run cheat.

Easy Fire Truck Missions
Steal a fire truck and begin the Firefighter mode. When you are assigned a new fire to put out, press F1 to start a replay, then F1 again to cancel it. The fire will be immediately extinguished.

Easy Vigilante Missions
When in a police car, enforcer, fbi car, or rhino, start the vigilante missions. Drive close to the target vehicle, and press ESC to call up the options menu. Choose 'Resume Game', and when the game resumes, your target will stop his/her vehicle and get out, making them much easier to kill.

Editing car stats
In the GTAIII-directory there should be a subdirectory called data. In this directory, you will find the file handling.cfg, and others, containing the stats for different cars and objects.

Here you can change the weight of the car (column A, higher is better) and it's crash damage multiplier (column Y, lower is better, 0 means no crash damage), in order to make any car have the weight of a tank, and take no damage from crashes.

The file itself gives good pointers towards which values should be changed, and you should backup any files you intend to edit. The limits mentioned in the file are just recommendations, you really can put in anything you want. When done, just restart the game, and you edited police car will push vehicles like a Fire Engine, and take absolutely no damage from crashing.

Flame-Thrower At Your Hideout
Complete 20 fire mission on each island to get a flame thrower at each hideout.

Police Bribes At Hideout
Complete 10 vigilante missions on one island to get a police bribe at your hieout. Complete 20 vigilante missions on each island to get a total of 6 police bribes at each hideout.

Tip for Entering Codes
Codes can still be entered while the game is paused (at the menu screen). Hit Esc to pause the game, then type the codes desired. The codes' effects will take place once you unpause. This trick does work for entering multiple codes at once, and is especially useful when you must enter codes quickly.

Unlock The Borgine Taxi
Complete at least 100 taxi missions to unlock a new, faster taxi.

More cars in garage:
You can fit more cars in your hideout's garage than you are supposed to. In district two, the garage should only hold two cars but you can fit four in (or five if they are small). Park the first two besides each other next to the wall. Then, park each car after that next to the door. Get out and the door will open. Quickly drive the car in before the door shuts. Now all three or four cars are saved. In order for this to work you need to park them very close together.

Custom music:
Copy some of your favorite MP3 files into the "mp3" folder in the game folder. Start the game and you will have a new radio station titled "mp3 player". Choose it to hear your own selections.

Custom skin:
Open the "skin" folder in the main game folder. Copy the skin "playa2.bmp" into any desired folder, then rename it "playa3.bmp". Open the "playa3.bmp", into MS Paint, Adobe Photo Shop, or another graphics program. Re-color and customize it as desired, then copy it back into the "skin" folder in the main game folder. Start the game, go into "Player Options", and choose your new skin.

Regain health with prostitute:
Car jack any vehicle and drive up to a prostitute walking the streets. Stop and let her approach the car, after a few seconds of talking, she will get in. Drive to a remote area where there are not any cops around (a good place is in your hideout). Stop the car, but do not get out. After about two seconds, the car will start rocking back and forth. You will recover approximately 40 to 50 points of health. When it is over, she will exit the car and walk away, but not before she charges you a fee. At this point you can beat her up and take back the money you just paid her. Note: The prostitute will fight back when you try to take your money back. If for any reason you both have to exit the car before it starts rocking, you will still be charged a fee (beat her up to take it back). You cannot do this with the same prostitute twice in one night -- you can however, pick up another prostitute and recover more health. Even though the maximum amount of health points is 100 when you start the game, it increases to 125 after the encounter and remains that way.

Portland: Get to Staunton Island early:
In the "Last Request" mission, it is possible to "maroon" the Japanese girl. To do this, look for the closest "island" when you pick her and Maria up. Get to the island and back the boat up a slope. You will hear crunching sounds. Experiment, and sooner or later she will drop off the boat and onto the island. From there, get to Staunton Island. You can cruise around and do everything else except take up any missions or side jobs. Kill Maria or the Japanese girl and the mission will end.

Third level
To go to the THIRD LEVEL..Take a right turn from the bridge of first levet to second level...and find a subway....and then go straight and find a board written SEASORE VALLE

Instead of copying your MP3 files to the "mp3" folder, just create shortcuts using Windows Explorer to the files inside your existing folder with MP3 files. The game will play all MP3 files the shortcuts are pointing to. This is very useful if you have large libraries of MP3s on CD and do not have the hard drive space for them.

Hint: Easy Hidden Packages:

Drive into the water and keep enabling the gesundheit code to stay alive. Keep repeating this until your beeper stops displaying information. You will now have 100 Hidden Packages.

Information in this section was contributed by Keikan.

Hint: Free car repair:

Park your car in a garage and watch the doors go up and down. You can save the game if desired, but is not necessary for the free repair. Note: This only works when you are not in a mission.

Information in this section was contributed by Gusthavo Torres and C P.

Hint: Stop car from exploding from damage:

When in a vehicle that has been hit many times, the car will smoke, eventually catches fire, and explodes. If you enable the gesundheit code while in the car, it will repair the engine damage. The body work will still look damaged. You can even repair the car once it is on fire as long as you are quick enough. To do this quicker, pause the game before inputting the code. This trick is especially useful on the Bait mission, as the police will never be able to destroy you.

Hint: Free paint job:

Pick up a prostitute then go to the Pay 'N' Spray. The paint job will be free. You can then back out, get out of the car, attack the prostitute, and get her money.

Hint: Flying a Tank:

Enable the chittychittybb code then turn the cannon so it faces the back of the tank. As you drive, start to shoot behind you. This will gain acceleration and make the tank fly.

Hint: Fly the Dodo:

While on the runway of the airport in Shoreside Vale, you can get a dodo in one of the hangars. The easiest one is near the helicopter pad in the back of the airport. Bring it on the runway. Once there, back it up all the way to the end so that it is facing Staunton Island. Hold [Down] + X. Note: Look toward the side view of the plane to get a better view before it scratches the ground and crashes. While accelerating, immediately before the plane's nose sparks the ground is going its full speed, release every thing and the plane it will take off on its own. Once in the air, you are now able to use the cursor keys to steer the plane. Tap the keys and do not hold them for a safer flight. Keep the plane closer to the ground as it keeps trying to go up. However, every once in a while let it climb then do a nose dive to get more speed.

Hint: Get to any of the other islands early:

Go back to the bridge and walk past the road block without a car. When you get far enough up the road, enable the giveusatank code and turn the gun so it is pointing behind the tank. Enable the chittychittybb code, then shoot the cannon and drive until you fly off the bridge. If done correctly, you will hover over the broken part onto the other side.

Information in this section was contributed by Djas00.

Start a new game and do the Give Me Liberty, and Luigi's Girls missions. Then, get a fast car and enable the chittychittybb and cornerslikemad codes. Once you are able to jump the Callahan Bridge (the one that is broken apart) and get to Staunton Island, save the game. Then, drive to the stadium on Staunton Island. Once you are near it, look for a tunnel with signs above it that read "Shoreside Vale", and "Portland". Follow that tunnel and turn left when you get the chance. Take that road and follow it until you get to the end. You are now in Shoreside Vale.

Intentionally die and end up at the hospital. Walk up the steps on to the road and get a car (or taxi if possible). Opposite the hospital is the University. Drive down the hill and take the left in to the University before the T-junction. Do a 180 degree turn so that the back of your car is at the top of the steps. Enable the cornerslikemad code, then drive forward and jump over the fence. If done correctly, you should end up on a platform. To your left should be a wall that is tiled. Move forward into the glass slowly. Your car will enter the glass wall and you will drop in the tunnels used in later missions.

Find a very fast car, such as the Banshee in the shop at 8-Balls. Drive to the bridge and stop at the beginning. Enable the chittychittybb code. Accelerate, and if you are lucky, you will fly over the gap and land on the other side. It will take some practice before you succeed. Test it with different distances before the edge.

Hint: Staunton Island: Get to Shoreside Vale early:

Find a very fast car, such as the Banshee in the shop at 8-Balls. Drive to the bridge and stop at the beginning. Enable the chittychittybb and cornerslikemad codes. If you sound the horn with the codes activated, you will make a small jump. This makes it possible to jump over the gap. Sound the horn just when you reach the edge. However, when you reach high speeds the car starts to fly automatically. When this happens, you will not be able to make that little extra jump.

Information in this section was contributed by Defect.

Enable the cornerslikemad code and drive to the hospital. From the road directly in front of the hospital, build up some speed then press [Shift] to make your car jump. You will land on a roof on the hospital. Without falling, drive into a building composed of glass windows. You will then fall into the tunnel leading to Shoreside Vale.

Hint: Big 'n' Veiny mission: Easy completion:

Start El Burro's "Big 'n' Veiny" mission by following the trail of magazines until you reach the top of the large hill where the Mafia mansion is located. Instead of turning right and following the trail down the hill, go straight and go down the grass cliff. You will end up in the Portland dock area, and will be very near the car that the magazine trail leads to. Find this van and kill the man next to it to stop the timer and complete the mission.

Information in this section was contributed by Calvin2376.

Go to the Portland Dock where the emergency crane is located. Enable the "Tank" code. Note: Other autos could also work. Get in the tank and drive it between the emergency crane and the doors at the left of the crane . Repeat this step four times until you have at least five tanks between emergency crane and the doors. Then, walk to the telephone where you start the mission. Do not steal or drive a car, as this would take the tanks away. Instead, go there by foot. Walk to the phone both to start mission, drive up to the third magazine, and the mission will be complete. The mission is completed because the tanks will have destroyed the van, and the explosion kills the man and that stops the timer.

Hint: Cutting The Grass mission: Easy completion:

To complete Salvatore's "Cutting the Grass" mission easily, instead of having to trail the snitch for the whole time, go straight to the Portland docks. When you get there, drive to the boat with the ramp leading up it. There is a staircase attached to the outside of the nearest building. Climb this and stop where you can see the ramp easily. This allows you to completely avoid the risk of spooking the snitch and gives you a good angle to shoot him from.

Stay in your car and run him over to pass the mission with ease.

Get a taxi and stop behind the taxi he called. He will get into your taxi.

Information in this section was contributed by Noyan Tokgözoðlu.

Hint: Dead Skunk In Da Trunk mission: Easy completion:

The Forelli brothers are very stupid and cannot maneuver out of tight spaces. Lead them into the tunnel (one brother is located at the parking lot of the café; the other is in front of the tunnel), thereby giving you time to shoot away at them. Once they are dead you can take the car and drive with ease. Also, if you damage the back end of the car to where the trunk pops open, you can see the dead body inside.

Information in this section was contributed by Austin Lombardi.

Hint: Espresso-2-Go mission: Easy completion:

Do not go to the first stand. Drive around town until all of the nine stands have shown up on the map -- some are in Shoreside Vale. When you hit the first stand, the eight minutes will start and you now have that time to just destroy the stands instead of looking for them while the timer is running. You should finish the mission with plenty of time remaining.

Drive to Shoreside Vale. Go to 8-Ball's and get a car bomb. Go to one of the Shoreside stalls and take out the guard. The sniper rifle works best. Park next to stall, but do not destroy it. Get another car bomb and repeat the steps with another car and the other Shoreside stall. Do not get in any more than one car -- the third car you enter will cause the first car bomb to disappear. Escape the blast radius and set off the bombs. Take out remaining stalls and you will have as much time as needed to complete the mission.

Information in this section was contributed by Shahzaib Bhatia.

Hint: Better and quicker stopping:

When you are going very fast and you hit the handbrake, you will most likely spin out of control. To stop this from happening, hit reverse and the handbrake at the same time when you are trying to stop and high speeds. Doing this will stop you quicker, and eliminate any spinning.

Information in this section was contributed by Calvin2376.

Hint: Drive into car crusher:

Get a car, and enable the cornerslikemad code. Drive towards the crusher from the sidewalk to the east, and use the horn to jump just at the edge. You can land in the crusher, which will crush you.

Information in this section was contributed by C P.

Hint: Taxi missions in other cars:

Get into a taxi and hold [Caps Lock]. Get out while still holding the key and walk to another car. Release [Caps Lock] when in the car. You can now do taxi missions in that new car.

Information in this section was contributed by Hectror Poblete.

Hint: Fast taxi customer:

After car jacking any taxi, press [Caps Lock] to become a cab driver. At this point the person driving the cab that was just jacked will become a pedestrian looking to catch a cab. This will make your first passenger the old taxi driver.

Information in this section was contributed by trechills.

Hint: Easy kills:

Jump onto any midsize car (not a big truck). You can stand on the hood of the car. From here, you can choose any gun and start shooting people while the car is still moving. This allows quick kills without walking, and the cops cannot get you.

Information in this section was contributed by Sam Blum.

Hint: Flashback radio station:

On the Flashback radio station, all the songs that are played are in the movie Scarface.
