Tips borrowed from The Hobbit: Primas Official Strategy Guide:

Some levels begin with the traveling companions all in a group. Take the time to talk to all the Dwarves and Gandalf. You may find out some useful information or be given a sub-quest to complete.

The mushrooms you find scattered about have healing properties. Pick up one and you'll heal a full bubble of health.

Once you have found the One Ring, you can become invisible. Be careful, however, because some creatures can still sense when you're nearby and may take swipes at you.

If an enemy has a shield, you can destroy it with a successful jump attack. Once the shield is out of the way, your foe becomes easier to hit.

The One Ring can only keep you invisible for a short period of time. When the ring meter runs out, Bilbo becomes visible again.

When wearing the One Ring, you cannot have a weapon drawn. As soon as you unsheathe any of them, Bilbo instantly becomes visible again.

If a creature looks at Bilbo while he is wearing the One Ring, Bilbo will glow red. It's a warning that something is searching for him. Make sure you get out of its way before the ring meter runs out.

In the Flies and Spiders level, you'll see a scroll on a branch high in the air. Picking up the scroll will teach Bilbo a new move.

When sneaking around the Trolls in the Roast Mutton level, you'll need to avoid the dry leaves on the ground. Look for the clear paths and follow them carefully.

Collecting Courage Points can be very rewarding. Gather enough of them and you'll gain a health bubble. Scoop up all the Courage Point gems you can find.
